zakat

Zakat
Many young innocent lives are being saved at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. Last year, your Zakat made it possible to treat almost 75% of our patients for free. This year we need 5.5 billion rupees to help those who cannot afford to pay for their own treatment. While the revenue from the Hospital’s diagnostic services has always, and continues to be, utilised for our expansion projects, it is your Zakat that is the hope of life for our poor cancer patients. Donate generously to SKMCH&RC this Ramadan and help us keep this hope alive.

donating-to-usSponsor a Cancer Patient
Every day, hundreds of cancer patients walk through the doors of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, with hope in their hearts. Hope that they, too, will be able to live to see their dreams come true, one day. Our Sponsor-a-Cancer Patient Programme allows you to assume direct responsibility for the treatment of one or more named cancer patients. This is treatment that most of our cancer patients could not otherwise afford. As a prospective sponsor, you will be provided with profiles of patients along with the expected treatment costs in each case, which you can pay up-front, as a lump sum or in installments. The information provided will help you in selecting a patient for sponsorship. You will receive regular medical updates on the patient you sponsor for the entire period of treatment. You will also be able to celebrate milestones in the treatment of patient you choose to support, should you so wish, by visiting them in Hospital after a surgical procedure, or by writing to them, or sending them a birthday card, for example.

So please join us as we accompany our patients in their journey of hope, and recovery, and help to make their dreams come true.

Sponsorship of New Projects – Lahore
Each year, approximately 150,000 patients in Pakistan are diagnosed with cancer. SKMCH&RC, Lahore being the only fully functional specialized cancer centre in the entire region with all the cancer diagnostic & therapeutic facilities under one roof, is constantly pressurized to meet the growing number of patients’ needs. However, our current capacity allows us to accept only a fraction of these patients. Therefore, a number of expansion projects are underway at the Hospital in Lahore to increase the capacity. Construction work on the new Clinical Tower, which will greatly augment all our existing clinical and support services, is expected to begin by the summer of 2018 and should be completed in two years. By contributing to these ventures you will enable us to extend state-of-the-art treatment facilities to more cancer patients.

Sponsorship of New Projects – Karachi
Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust has identified the need to enhance its presence in different parts of Pakistan to respond to increasing challenges posed by growing patient numbers. The construction of the Shaukat Khanum Diagnostic Centre and Clinic in Karachi in 2007 was in line with this vision. The Trust hopes to bring state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities closer to the people of South Pakistan and hence, has embarked upon the journey of establishing Pakistan’s third SKMCH&RC in Karachi. The Trust has been awarded land in the DHA and plans are underway to complete the construction of the Hospital over a three-year time-frame, at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.5 billion. SKMCH&RC in Karachi, a multi-level facility, is planned to open its doors to patients on December 29, 2019 as a fully-functional cancer hospital.
