Recovery Room

Surgery - In Patient

image

 Description:

All patients are admitted to the Recovery Room following surgery and anesthesia. The length of patient stay in the recovery room depends on several factors, including demonstrated recovery from anesthesia. If the patient has epidural or spinal anesthesia, he/she must be able to feel and move legs before being discharged from the recovery room. Pain medicines are initiated in the recovery room. Pain control regimen may take the form of pills, injections, or patient-controlled analgesia, sometime called a “pain pump”. Sometimes after surgery, a patient may require medications to control variations in his/her vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, or respiratory rate. Patients in the recovery room do not be discharged from the recovery room until his/her vital signs are stable.

SKMCH&RC, Karachi will have 16 Recovery Rooms in Surgery-Inpatient-Recovery (similar to the ones at SKMCH&RC, Lahore, photographs of which are shown above).
