World Cancer Day 2020: #IAmAndIWill
Created in 2000, the World Cancer Day is an initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the largest and oldest international cancer organisation committed to taking the lead in uniting the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden. Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre is a member of the UICC since 2006 and has been taking an active part in various campaigns of UICC to make a lasting and positive change against cancer in Pakistan.
2020 marks the midway point of the 3-year ‘I Am and I Will’ campaign. ‘I Am and I Will’ is an empowering call-to-action urging for personal commitment and represents the power of individual action taken now to impact the future. On this February 4, 2020 whoever you are, your actions – big and small -will make lasting, positive change so ask yourself who you are and how you can support the cause of fighting cancer.
Use Your Voice
Start a conversation about cancer with your friends and family and help break the taboo around a cancer diagnosis. Write or record a message on your website, newsletter or social media and pledge to support the cause on this day and use #WorldCancerDay, #IAmAndIWill, #SKMCH

Give Your Time
You can volunteer at our events and activities for raising awareness and funds to help fight cancer. If you can commit your time regularly for a year, sign up as a student ambassador (if you are enrolled in college/university) or as an institution ambassador (if you are employed at a corporate) from any city in the world.
Donate Blood
The only source of blood is healthy volunteer donors. As cancer patients need blood transfusions during their treatment, at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore and Peshawar, we need more than 65 bags of blood and blood components every day. One bag of blood can save more than one life and on this day, you can pledge to donate blood regularly at our Hospitals by signing up online.

the number of premature deaths from cancer and non-communicable diseases by one third by 2030 if we all take
