Holistic Nursing Care Workshop
Description:
This workshop is intended to inculcate concept of Holistic Nursing care in nurses working at different units of SKMCH&RC to enable them to address patients’ bio-psychosocial needs by using nursing process. The principle aim is to enhance quality of care provided to cancer patients.
Specific Objectives:
- Discuss the influence of a holistic viewpoint on health
- Describe the nurse’s roles regarding promoting Holistic Care
- Nursing Process and its components
- Discuss the nurse’s professional responsibilities related to teaching.
- Relate the teaching-learning process to the nursing process.
- Describe teaching strategies that make learning meaningful to clients.
Training Methods:
In-service workshop given within first year of employment at nursing division of SKMCH&RC and is to be repeated after every 2 years. The workshop can be offered to the external nurses upon institutions request.

- The components of the nursing process.
- Tasks involved in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Nursing skills required in implementation of the nursing process.
- Gorden Functional Health Pattern
- Relationship of nursing process to the problem-solving
- Importance of client education.
- Principles of adult education
- Common barriers to learning.
- Relate the teaching-learning process to the nursing process.
- Describe teaching strategies that make learning meaningful to clients.
- The Maslow Heraicy Needs Model
- The influence of a holistic viewpoint on health and health care delivery.
- The nurse’s roles regarding clients’ spirituality and promoting the sexual health of clients.
