Infectious diseases is recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan as a sub-specialty of internal medicine and SKMCH&RC is a CPSP-recognized training site in infectious diseases. Graduates of the programme will be expected to take the sub-specialty examination leading to the FCPS (infectious disease). Training will be imparted in clinical infectious diseases. It will involve outpatient and inpatient settings as well as rotations in microbiology. Four infectious disease specialists are on staff at SKMCH & RC, Lahore and the institution sees a very wide range of infections, both in normal and in immunocompromised hosts. The Fellowship Training Program in Palliative Medicine is designed to equip the appointee with skills needed to deal with end of life care as well as complex symptom management in patients with advanced disease. The appointee is also expected to further develop their General Internal and Acute medicine skills. This is a CPSP approved fellowship program. The Program is of two years duration with an emphasis on training in palliative medicine both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. A significant emphasis will be on developing excellent communication skills. In addition to training in the discipline of palliative medicine, fellows are expected to participate in the education of medical students in physical diagnosis, and in education of residents and electives who rotate through the palliative medicine service. At the end of two years, the fellow will be expected to have met all the requirements of progressing to Senior Instructor in Palliative Medicine as per the SKMCH&RC job structure.

The Fellow will have the opportunity to obtain focused training in Head & Neck Surgery supervised by experienced consultants with a multidisciplinary approach. Learning Objectives This fellowship is designed to promote surgeons who want to excel in the field of head and neck surgical oncology and reconstruction. The diverse program will facilitate fellows to have a 360-degree clinical and surgical experience in all aspects of head and neck surgery. During the fellowship year, fellows will participate in clinical and surgical care of patients with faculty supervision but will also have an independent clinical as well as surgical practice. Eligibility Requirements The applicant must be an MBBS or BDS, graduated from an institution recognized by PMDC. One year house job or internship after graduation is required. They should have completed four years residency training in Otolaryngology, Maxillofacial surgery, General surgery, or Plastic Surgery. FCPS Part II or equivalent. We have 3 state of the art PET CT facilities, 2 in the SKM main department in Lahore and 1 at Peshawar. All reporting is done in Lahore with state of the art dedicated workstations and excellent remote image link. The department is backed by an onsite Cyclotron and provision for F18 and Ga68 radiotracers. The PET services at SKMCH&RC Lahore are undergoing expansion with commissioning of a 4th scanner in SKMCH Karachi in near future. The department of Nuclear medicine is equipped with two SPECT/CT cameras, 1 dual-head gamma camera and two DXA scanners. The Orofacial Pain Medicine team is part of the Department of Internal Medicine at SKMCH&RC. The Orofacial Pain service provides consultation to patients in outpatient and inpatient settings. This opportunity offers a unique experience for trainees to learn the management of various painful disorders that may affect the head and neck region, including but not limited to headache disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, dental conditions, neuropathic pain disorders, postsurgical pain disorders, and pain attributed to cancer or cancer-therapies. The service works in a multidisciplinary setup consisting of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, speciality physicians, radiologists, and pathologists. This training will provide the fellow in Orofacial Pain Medicine with hands on experience in this specialised field. As part of the fellowship programme, the fellow will also have the opportunity to gain research experience by participating in ongoing research projects.
