Operating Microscope (Ophthalmology)

An operating microscope is an optical microscope specifically designed to be used in a surgical setting, typically to perform microsurgery. An operating microscope is commonly used in ophthalmology treatment, where the magnification provided by the operating microscope improves visualization of the minute nerves and blood vessels of the eye.  In early-stage eye cancer, tumours of the eye can be removed and eye can be saved.
