The Pathology Laboratory at SKMCH&RC, Peshawar currently offers a limited test menu in sub-specialties including Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cytology, Molecular Biology, Haematology and Blood Banking. Any specialised test needs are fulfilled by sending samples to the Shaukat Khanum Pathology Laboratory in Lahore.
OUR EXPERTISE
For the convenience of our patients, laboratory test results can be accessed online on our website. Test results remain with us indefinitely because of our advanced patient data management systems.
Our modern laboratory facility has a robust quality assurance and patient safety program. The laboratory is registered with the College of American Pathologists for proficiency testing and is sustaining successful results over the years, which is evidence of our high standards and constant pursuit of excellence.

Clinical Pathology
Routine Chemistry: The Routine Chemistry section is primarily concerned with biochemical analysis of a wide range of biological samples for diagnosis and monitoring of patients.
Special Chemistry: The Special Chemistry section offers a large menu of specialized tests using the latest analyzers and equipment.
Blood Bank: A full service Blood Bank is available. Each donor or donated blood sample is screened for major infectious diseases. The Blood Bank is also equipped with top-of-the-line apheresis machines, allowing us to separate the blood components and perform therapeutic apheresis.
Haematology and Coagulation: This section is one of the vital components of the Pathology Laboratory. It is equipped with latest differential analyzers which include the measurement of nucleated RBC’s and auto-correcting of the WBC count.
For coagulation studies, a coagulation analyzer performs different parameters. Other tests offered in haematology include CBC with manual differential, and reticulocyte manual estimation.
Microbiology: The Microbiology section provides bacteriology, and urinalysis. The section is equipped with an automated blood culture system.
Molecular Biology: The Molecular Biology section provides PCR services for some basic parameters. The section is equipped with GeneXpert and Cobas PCR Automated machines.
