Pulse Oximeter
A Pulse Oximeter is a noninvasive medical device that is used to measure the oxygen level (oxygen saturation) of the blood. This information is needed in a number of situations including after surgical procedures that use sedation, and to check the health of an individual suffering from any condition that affects blood oxygen levels such as heart failure, anaemia, or lung cancer.
A Pulse Oximeter has a sensor device that is placed on a patient’s fingertip or earlobe. The sensor passes two wavelengths of light through the body part which measures the oxygen saturation in the pulsing arterial blood.
