LAHORE, February 21, 2026 – The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT) raised the highest-ever Rs. 432 million at an Iftar Dinner in Lahore last night, as part of its annual Zakat campaign. This event, the first of two planned Iftars in the city, surpassed last year’s total of Rs. 330 million, reflecting the unwavering generosity of the people of Pakistan.
Hosted by Adeel Hashmi, the evening featured Fawad Khan, renowned superstar of the country, as Fundraising Star of the Event. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised that charity not only purifies one’s wealth but also one’s character, adding that the public has supported Shaukat Khanum Hospital for many years and he hopes they continue to do so.
Dr. Faisal Sultan, Chief Executive Officer of Shaukat Khanum Hospitals, presented the latest developments at SKMT. Cancer survivor Gulnaz Ayaz also shared her inspiring journey. Long-term donors Mian Anjum Nisar and Ms. Raana Ahmed expressed that Shaukat Khanum Hospitals are a blessing for the ailing, encouraging those blessed with abundance to come forward and donate. Members of the SKMT Board of Governors, Mrs. Aleema Khanum and Dr. Uzma Khan, were also present.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Sultan thanked all donors and stated, “Every contribution matters. We have a budget of Rs. 43 billion this year to sustain two tertiary care cancer hospitals and to inaugurate the third one in Karachi in December. Donate generously in Ramzan, and help us defeat cancer.”
