Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Peshawar hosts an academic delegation from Bangladesh

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Peshawar recently welcomed a delegation of 16 professionals from 9 leading institutions in Bangladesh for an academic and institutional exchange programme. The delegation included academics from the University of Rajshahi, University of Dhaka, University of Chittagong, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Sylhet, Jahangirnagar University Savar Dhaka, North South University (NSU) Dhaka, BRAC University Dhaka, Asian University of Bangladesh, and Southeast University. During the visit, the delegation received a detailed overview of the hospital’s operations, clinical services, key achievements, and best practices in oncology.

The marketing team, along with Mr Muhammad Junaid, Chief Operating Officer, provided a detailed briefing at the Outpatient Department (OPD) on the organization’s structure and services. At the Chemotherapy Bay, Dr Palwasha Rehman gave a thorough overview of chemotherapy services, followed by a guided round of the department. The final stop was the Inpatient Department, where Dr Irfan Kabir explained about our inpatient services and care protocols.

The delegation was particularly impressed by the hospital’s philanthropic model, under which 75% of patients receive free of charge treatment. They appreciated SKMCH&RC’s commitment of providing quality cancer care regardless of a patient’s financial status. The visitors enquired whether the hospital accepts patients from other countries. The team confirmed that SKMCH&RC accepts patients for treatment based on their medical condition, irrespective of nationality.

At the conclusion of the visit, members of the delegation personally gave donations and committed to sharing the information within their professional and social networks to facilitate donations to SKMCH&RC.
This exchange programme underscores the importance of cross-border collaboration in healthcare, strengthens professional linkages, and promotes knowledge sharing between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
